Odile Gertze is the new Miss Namibia 2010

New Era, 02-aug-2010: Odile Gertze was crowned Miss Namibia on Saturday at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino. Venantia Otto was crowned first princess, with Steny Schoeman second princess. Gertze’s view that communication between different stakeholders in the tourism sector will lift Namibia on the path to prosperity convinced the judges to announce the 21-year-old the country’s 30th national asset in 2010/11. All three beauties are from Windhoek. South Africa’s Vicky Sampson swept the audience with smash hit ‘Afrikan Dream’. Presenters were international model Michelle McLean and actor and singer Stefan Ludick.

The striking, 1,85-metre-tall law student was crowned Miss Namibia 2009 at the annual pageant that took place on Saturday at the Windhoek Country Club. Supporting her during the year of her reign will be 23-year-old Susan van Zyl as Second Princess and 22-year-old Tanja Schemmer as First Princess. Former Miss Namibia and Miss Universe Michelle McLean hosted the pageant, which included performances by South African Idols Season 5 joint winner Jason Hartman and local artists Roger and Tequila.
