In 1959, Akiko Kojima of Japan made history on two counts. She was the first Asian woman to win the title of Miss Universe and also the last Miss Universe crowned while wearing a swimsuit. Kind of ironic since it was Catalina Swimwear that helped found the pageant. As the 1960's dawned the song "The Times They Are a Changing" resonates from this moment on.
