WIENER STEWARDESS IST MISS AUSTRIA 2011

Crowned late Saturday night at the Baden Casino is the new Miss Austria 2011, Miss Vienna Carmen Stamboli, 27 and a flight attendant. Runners-up in the contest were Julia Hofer, Anna Fleiss, Tanja Kriegner, and Vanessa Lehner. A total of 18 candidates competed for the coveted crown.

MISS STYRIA 2011

Sabrina Konrad is the new Miss Styria 2011 and will now compete in the Miss Austria 2011 pageant, which is scheduled to take place on March 26. Sabrina, 20, won the Miss Styria crown tonight. First runner-up in the contest was Anna Schreiber; second runner-up was Raphaela Gruber. Special guests at the pageant were Mister Austria 2010, Missis Austria 2010, and Miss Austria 2010. The election of Miss Styria is the perfect opporunity for a mini-geography lesson. Styria is a state, or Bundesland, located in southeast Austria. In area it is the second largest of the nine Austrian federal-states and shares a border with tiny alpine nation of Slovenia. The capital of Styria is Graz. Famous Styrians of note in pageantdom are Mr. Universe 1967 Arnold Schwarzenegger and Miss World 1987 Ulla Weigerstorfer.

MISS AUSTRIA 2010

Capping off a jammed-packed weekend of pageants around the world was Miss Austria 2010. Contestant No. 3 and Miss Miss Kärnten, Valentina Schlager, won the title and will represent Austria at Miss World 2010. Valentina's best friend, Vice-Miss Kärnten Mirja Roth, was named first runner-up. Second runner-up in the contest was Miss Tirol, Isabella Innerebner.

Anna Hammel, 21, a Leo with brown eyes and brown hair, is the new Miss Austria 2009. She won the title last night in a glittering ceremony in Kleinhaugsdorf. First runner-up was Konstanze Heis, 18, and second runner-up was Dejana Varadin, 22.

Beauty School students currently enrolled in the Triple Crown course will recognize her as Eva Duringer of Austria, first runner-up to Miss Universe 1977, semi-finalist at Miss World 1977, and Miss Europe 1978.
