AND MISS WORLD 2008 IS...MISS RUSSIA!

Ksenya Sukhinova from Russia blows a kiss after being crowned Miss World 2008 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. Sukhinova from Russia beat 108 other international beauties in a glittering African extravaganza held in South Africa today.

Sukhinova was crowned after a two-hour spectacle that combined elements of travelogue and reality show, and the kind of flag-waving usually seen at sports events. She beamed as she was crowned. She was a crowd favorite, though not as popular as hometown beauty Miss South Africa, Tansey Coetzee, who made the top five. First runner-up was Miss India, Parvathy Omanakuttan; second runner-up was Miss Trinidad and Tobago, Gabrielle Walcott. (Photos: AFP & AP)
