WAY BACK WHEN

Beauty School's librarian, Lorraine, left these photos under the Dean's door, as is her want, with a note saying "I can't figure out what to make of these pictures. Luv Ya, Lorraine." Obviously , Lorraine has lost a couple of brain cells due to inhaling too many fumes from her Revlon "Fire and Ice" nail polish. These are classic photos from the 1920's, one showing the "Flapper" look of the time and the other showing the first Miss America, Margaret Gorman of Washington, DC, posing with the god Neptune in 1921. What started out as a publicity stunt back then to keep tourists visiting Atlantic City a week after Labor Day has become an American Instution. The Miss America pageant is in its 87th year!
