In the world of pageantry there are winners and there are losers. Most losers do so with grace but not all. We decided to add the Miss Sour Grapes category to our Class Celebrities series. So here we go: Our Third runner-up is none other than Christy Fichtner, Miss USA 1986, who according to "La Prensa" flew out from the Miss Universe pageant site as soon as possible and missed the coronation ball and photo shoots scheduled for the next day. According to "La Prensa" she was not happy at being named as first runner-up.
Next up, is none other than Kathy Morningside. Who you say? Why the character played by Candice Bergen in the film "Miss Congeniality." Miss Bergen played the director of a famous Beauty Pageant for 21 years. When she found out she was being replaced with someone younger she decided to blow up the pageant finals with a bomb hidden in the crown. Talk about not being graceful in defeat.
Our first runner-up is Miss Italy 1982, Cinzia Fiordeponti. She finished as second runner-up at Miss Universe. She was not pleased with this placement and called a news conference the next day to denounce the first runner-up Miss Guam, Patty Chong Kerkos, saying she, Cinzia, should have been the first runner-up.

And our winner of the Miss Sour Grapes award goes to a woman who is legend for not taking losing easily: Miss Egypt 1953, Marina Papaelia, who was a favorite going into the Miss World pageant. Upon hearing her name called out as second runner-up, she screamed, threw a tantrum and screamed "I theenk she steenk" about the winner Miss France and then proceded to pass out!
