The 1955 Raffle

Every year the History Club at Beauty School holds a raffle to raise money for the restoration of the "Sound Proof" booth that was donated to the college by the city of Miami. Its in bad shape and needs all the work it can get. To that end, they always select a year to celebrate as its theme as they shamelessly solicit donations. This year they selected the year 1955. Members of the club will be seen around campus with donation cannisters featuring pictures of the famous from 1955. So if you see folks walking around in poodle skirts or coonskin hats be ready to go to the hip to help them out. It's a good cause. Besides you could win a trip to the featured countries celebrated in 1955. You can choose from Sweden, home of Miss Universe, Hellevi Rombin, Venezuela, home of Miss World, Susan Duijim, Hungary, home to Mr. Universe, Mickey Hargitay or San Francisco, California, home to Miss America Lee Merriweather.
