Back in the 1960's there was a Little Miss Universe Pageant held in conjunction with the real pageant. A local Florida television station, WTVJ, held the pageant on live television just prior to the broadcast of Miss Universe. They presented ten finalists and crowned the winner on the air. We found these rare images touting the pageant and a photo of the winner of the title in 1961. She was Suzan De Nardo of Miami Beach. We love the prize package for the lucky young winner, 450,000 Green Stamps. Green Stamps were just that; green stamps that you pasted into little booklets and then redeemed to purchase such luxurious items as a thermos, lawn furniture, beach balls, inflatable rafts and other "must have" items. Oh, and the sponsor of the show was none other than Dirr's Gold Seal Meats of Miami." You got to love it.
