Mpule Kwelogobe graces the cover of "Heart & Soul" magazine in 1999.
Not only was she the first representative from Botswana to compete in the pageant, she just went ahead and won, becoming the first black woman from Africa to do so. It was history in the making as she was crowned by Wendy Fitzwilliam of Trinidad & Tobago, marking the first time that there were two consecutive winners by women of color to win the coveted title. It was about time.
