PEACHY-KEEN

1976 was the USA's Bicentennial, full of fireworks and celebrations. The Miss USA pageant that year was held at spectacular Niagara Falls in New York State. The connection between Niagara Falls for the venue and the ringing of the Liberty Bell 200 years earlier was dubious at best. Throw in the fact that the actress Maureen O'Sullivan, the original Jane in the "Tarzan" movies, was featured in the opening number and we were scratching our heads as to what she had to do with the founding fathers. Nonetheless, we found a photo of this lovely patriot who represented one of the original thirteen colonies, none other than Miss Georgia, Liz Wickersham, taking the stage after being named the winner of the swimsuit competition. How sweet it is.
