Ieda Maria Vargas of Brazil became the first Miss Brazil to win the title of Miss Universe in 1963. Dean Di Maggio remembers watching that pageant on a black and white television set with rabbit ears and rooting for her to win. Dean Harris, well, I don't think he was watching television yet.
