EYES ON THE PRIZE

At the 1980 Miss Universe Pageant in Seoul, Korea...Miss New Zealand Delyse Nottle and Miss Tahiti Thilda Raina Fuller admire the prize - the Miss Universe crown held by Venezuela's Maritza Sayalero, Miss Universe 1979. Both Miss New Zealand and Miss Tahiti competed well at Miss Universe 1980: Miss New Zealand was 2nd runner-up and Miss Tahiti made the top 12.

Notice the cranes on the traditional Korean costumes that Miss New Zealand and Miss Tahiti are wearing? Cranes are among the most popular birds in Asia and are symbols of good luck, health, and happiness.
